Provital’s 3D Matrix: our range of products obtained through our flagship multi-capillary injection biotechnology
Transforming cosmetics with Provital’s 3D Matrix
Provital was a leading pioneer in the creation of a multi-capillary injection technology for sequential release of plant-based active ingredients: our 3DMatrix Technology.
This flagship structure is now present in various of our CareActives™ and CareMotives, all of them being biotechnological products obtained through the same multicapillary-injection procedure but from different botanical sources, as each of the raw materials used were previously selected according to the potential activity on skin and/or hair searched for each cosmetic active ingredient or natural extract.
Behind 3D Matrix Technology: Stages of ingredient obtention
We are committed to create innovative products that push the boundaries of biotechnology. Behind our 3D Matrix technology, there’s the goal of improving the quality standards of cosmetic ingredients.
The common procedure of obtention of this 3D biotechnological structure for each ingredient comprises several stages:
The first stage is the preparation of the hydrocolloid pre-gel of galactomannans or amylopectin (coming from the different plant sources). Either way, this fraction of polysaccharides is subjected to humectation at a controlled temperature and conditions until it is completely solubilized, thus forming the hydrocolloidal pre-gel.
This colloidal pre-gel is necessary to incorporate the smallest molecules (oligosaccharides) in a precise way: the galactomannan or amylopectin pre-gel circulates into a pipe under constant temperature until, at a certain point, the oligosaccharides concentrate is incorporated by means of a multi-capillary injection and the system is immediately cooled down.
With this multi-capillary injection, a critical concentration of solutes is reached, which, in combination with the drastic temperature drop, induces a reaction to form a three-dimensional matrix that traps the small sugar molecules. Since the galacto-manno-oligosaccharides are injected under continuous high-pressure conditions, it ensures a homogeneous incorporation of the small molecules into the 3D matrix with the desired botanical active molecules entrapped inside.
A unique 3D Matrix structure
Therefore, by means of this innovative 3D biotechnology solutions, Provital developed a unique three-dimensional matrix system that enables a dual mechanism of action: an immediate effect followed by a subsequent release of active molecules inside the skin or hair — with polysaccharides obtained from different selected plant sources to meet specific needs.
Varied sourcing: Different 3D Matrix depending on the origin of our plant-based polysaccharides
Amylopectin from Maize
The matrix naturally binds to the negatively charged hair surface, forming a film that enables the gradual release of amino acids — working both on the surface and within the deeper layers of the fibre to leave hair healthier, stronger, and restored.
This 3D-matrix is powered by key ingredients:
Amylopectin, a corn-derived biopolymer, enhances adhesion.
Cationic Guar Gum, from guar seeds, improves interaction with hair.
Polyquaternium-7 helps reduce static and supports protective film formation.
Amylopectin from Rice
Amylopectin forms the moisturizing hydrocolloid matrix into which active substances can be incorporated to be released sequentially.
The Oryza sativa var. glutinosa variety of rice, cultivated in Asia for over 8,000 years for its viscous, amylopectin-rich glutinous starch, is combined with sustainably harvested Lithothamnion calcareum, a natural source of calcium that supports keratinocyte differentiation.
Galactomannans from Tara
Galactomannans come from the flower of the Tara tree, known in Peru as the "Green Gold of the Incas" for its remarkable ability to adapt to extreme environments. It helps prevent erosion and supports ecosystems in dry areas thanks to its nitrogen-absorbing capacity. Additionally, these high molecular weight polysaccharides retain water, providing important moisturizing benefits.
The galactomannan matrix is extracted from Tara seeds(Caesalpinia spinosa) as a gel, forming a hydrocolloid structure. Provital enriches this three-dimensional gel with hydrolyzed actives that benefit both skin and hair.
New 3D Matrix: Amylopectin Enriched with Lysine
Amaranthus caudatus seed extract is embedded into an advanced 3D plant-derived biopolymer matrix, enhanced with lysine and PCA glyceryl oleate for improved functionality and performance. This non-ionic, water-soluble biopolymer is an amylopectin derived from corn (Zea mays).
The new fusion of zea mays starch and sclerotium gum transforms the 3D Matrix into a bio-intelligent infrastructure—capable of adapting, supporting, and performing on multiple levels.
From sustained delivery of ingredients with high-performance activity and refined sensoriality, to improved formula stability, Covertrix operates as a multifunctional platform for next-level hair care.
